Identification of fungus

Postby strikewolf » Sun Jan 31, 2010 8:25 pm

Hi

This is an old image of my Acer Ginalla, Siberian Maple, stump, that shows clear signs of a red fungus of some kind. This is an area that I am not so familiar with. If anybody could point me to a good guide for fungicides etc I would be grateful.

The same red stuff has appeared on one of my other acers as well, boring stuff:)

The infected area on the image was pruned away, but a year after the red dots reappeared.

For information the maple is now standing in a well-draing substrate so i do not think excessive water is the problem.

high strikewolf,
whats about the use of a solution of Jin-solution mixed in water in a comparison of 1 part of Jinsolution to 30 parts water. Than you will get rid of these fungus stuff. It's the mixure I use for my whole trees as a wintersolution for preparing them for spring without fungus.

Nice, especially since lime sulfur is heading my way by mail as we write.

I will use your recipe for this. What is the best way to apply it?

Do you know the name of the basterd?

I make a mixture 1:30 Jinsolution and water and than applying it by spraying so that all parts are wet. Take care of the rootparts, take a plasticshit or anything else to cover.

Doesen't this add a white color to the tree, or is the solution so mild, this doesen't happen?

It's realy mild so that does'nt matter. You need something to kill fungus and the little " fungusseeds". So thats it.
