Small forest of Rhus microphylla

Postby GreenGnome » Mon Mar 08, 2010 12:57 am

Here Is a small forest of Rhus microphylla. I originally had one of these trees in a small bonsai pot, but in never looked quite right. It can be seen here viewtopic.php?f=2&t=555
so I took the other two I had and placed them in a drip tray from another pot it has no holes on the bottom but is very shallow. They are just starting to emerge from their dormancy. I would like to add an accent plant but it must be very tiny to fit the scene, any recommendations?

One of my favorites is Rhodohypoxis Baurii. It is a very small bulb and has pink or white flowers, like a tiny tulip. Word of advice; you can probably cut more roots off than you think with those trees you have, bringing your soil level closer to the edge of the pot. Good luck! -=Brian=-

I would like to find a tray that is a little deeper, as this one dries out in about a day of good sun, hmmm but then again maybe not. Should I wait until fall to bring them down a bit? I haven't wanted to mess with them much since they began to leaf out.
